Terms of Use

Last updated October 27, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Tyler Ashton (“Vocette,” “we,” “us”) for using the Vocette app and vocette.app (together, “Vocette”). By using Vocette, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Vocette.

Who can use Vocette

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Vocette is meant for parents and other adults. Children may only use kids mode on a parent’s or guardian’s device, with that adult’s permission and supervision.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has gotten in.

Your stories belong to you

You own the recordings, photos, words and other content you add to Vocette (“your content”). To run Vocette, you give us permission to store, copy, process and transmit your content, including sending it to the service providers described in our Privacy Policy. We use this permission only to provide and improve Vocette for you, and it ends when you delete your content or your account.

You’re responsible for your content. Please only add recordings and photos you have the right to use, and be thoughtful about other people’s privacy, including your children’s, family members’ and legacy contacts’. When you add someone as a legacy contact, you confirm you’re comfortable sharing their contact details with us for that purpose.

Questions written by AI

Vocette uses AI to write questions, follow-ups and kids’ questions, and to help pick photos. These are suggestions to help you remember and tell stories. They may sometimes be wrong, odd or not a good fit, and they aren’t advice of any kind.

Sealed stories and legacy contacts

Sealing a story keeps it closed until the date you choose. Legacy contacts are a way to plan for someone you trust to receive your stories. We work hard for these features to do what you expect, but they depend on your account, your devices, and services we don’t control, so we can’t guarantee that a story will be delivered at a particular time or to a particular person. Please don’t use Vocette as the only place you keep important wishes or information.

Keep your own copies

We work to keep your stories safe, but no service can promise it will never lose data. Without an account, your stories are stored only on your phone, and losing or resetting the phone can lose them.

Fair use

Please don’t:

  • Use Vocette to break the law or to harm, harass or record anyone without their permission where the law requires it.
  • Try to get into other people’s accounts or our systems, or disrupt Vocette.
  • Copy, resell or reverse engineer Vocette, except where the law allows.
  • Use Vocette to build a competing product, or scrape it with automated tools.

Free and paid features

Vocette is currently free. We may add paid features or subscriptions in the future. If we do, we’ll show the price and what’s included before you pay. Purchases in the app are handled by Apple through the App Store, and Apple’s terms cover billing, renewals and refunds. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings.

Changes to Vocette and these terms

Vocette will change as we learn what helps families, and we may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using Vocette after that, the new terms apply.

Ending your use

You can stop using Vocette and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Where we can, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to save your stories.

Disclaimers

Vocette is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that Vocette will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will meet every need.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Vocette won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about Vocette is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state courts in Utah County, Utah, or the federal courts for the District of Utah, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

Apple

If you got Vocette from the App Store, these terms are between you and Vocette, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for Vocette or its content, has no obligation to provide support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms, which it may enforce against you. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, except where these terms say otherwise.
